Metals for Vets
Recycling Metal. Honoring Veterans. Protecting Our Planet.
Our Story
While volunteering at local charities, our founders noticed something troubling — a significant portion of each charity's budget was being spent hauling old appliances and scrap metal to the landfill. Microwaves, stoves, washing machines, dryers — items too worn to repair but too valuable to simply throw away.
That's when the idea clicked. What if we took those unwanted metal items off their hands — for free — and recycled them instead?
Metals for Vets became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, meaning every donation you make is 100% tax deductible. What started as a small hobby to help local charities save money quickly grew into a powerful mission: raise funds for fellow veterans while keeping metal out of landfills.
The Impact
Even through the challenges of COVID-19, Metals for Vets kept growing. In 2021, we diverted 141,200 lbs of metal from local landfills. In 2022, that number climbed to 162,406 lbs. What began as a small keeping busy project , has grown into a larger mission that serves two vital causes:

The Environment
Recycling metal is 95% more energy efficient than traditional mining — meaning less fossil fuel consumption, less heavy machinery, and a healthier planet. Every pound of metal we collect is a step toward a cleaner future.
The funds we raise go directly to veteran support organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House, Boot Campaign, Pat Tillman Foundation, and several local charities. We specifically choose organizations that use less than 5% of funds for administration — so 95% goes straight to helping veterans.
For over 11 years, Metals for Vets has made monthly donations to veteran organizations, with totals growing every year. We're just a group of blue-collar guys in T-shirts who saw a chance to give back — and took it.

Every dollar counts. All funds go toward supporting veterans and fueling our recycling mission. Only about 6% of Americans have served in the military — they gave a lot for all of us. Now it's our turn to give back.
We're grateful to be in a country worth fighting for. If you can, please donate — here or anywhere. It all makes a difference.
Thank you,
Metals for Vets
